Kevin
Wicke - Owner / Driver
Age : 44
Occupation : Owner of K&K Racing &
Performance
Family : 3 children - Kody, Kassi and
Kayden
Nickname : "Elvis" |
Kevin has been racing
since 1978 and has enjoyed success at every level. His first car was
a Barracuda that seen some time on the street and the track. Once he
got the racing bug that car was quickly converted to a race car. That
67' Cuda went through a few updates and different engines and ran as
quick as 10.80's. In 1988 he began to complete the partially built 81'
Plymouth Arrow that was know as "PAPPY'S TOY". The Arrow was campaigned
for a number of years and recorded a best ET of 7.87. Knowing that was
too fast for the chassis plans were made to get a new car. In 1987 Kevin
drove a 69' Camaro owned by Ron Anderson and recorded times in the high
7 second zone. Then in 1998 he purchased the 92' LeBaron he currently
competes with. This car has proven to be a reliable and consistent race
car since day one. With a 542 B1 Mopar assisted by a 2 stage NOS system
the car has ran a career best of 7.23 @ 190 mph. With this car Kevin
captured 2 Canadian Top Sportsman titles (1999 & 2001) and won numerous
Q16 events. Although his dream would be to race in IHRA Prostock he
will drive the LeBaron in IHRA Top Sportsman competition. Kevin enjoys
the time spent at the track and is always willing to talk with other
racers and fans to answer any questions they have.
As owner of K&K Racing & Performance racing takes up much of his time
but when not at work or the track he loves spending time with his 3
children. Often 1 or all are at the track throughout the summer helping
out where they can. During the off season Kevin spends as much time
at the rink as he does at the track in the summer. With both Kody and
Kayden playing on travel teams and daughter Kassi taking figure skating
many miles are put on getting them to games and practices.

Zimmer - Crew Chief & Marketing
Age : 34
Occupation : JS Wild Trailer Sales/
Grand Bend Motorplex
Nickname : "Zimmy" or "Junior" |
Kevin Zimmer has
been involved with racing since he was 14 years old and has developed
a true passion for the sport. He first began helping his brother and
father race a 75' Vega, then campaigned that car with his dad for a
number of years and helped brother Doug build a new car. Taking the
odd turn behind the wheel of the Vega Kevin recorded times in the mid
10 second range. It was about that time when he began to help Kevin
Wicke with his Plymouth Arrow. At first helping out was just a way to
get to the track when dad wasn't going but the partnership just grew
from there. Now, when it comes to the race car there is not much that
get decided by just one person. Kevin also has taken over the marketing
of the race team as well as K&K Racing & Performance. With some education
in marketing and a true love for the business side of racing Kevin looks
after gaining marketing partners for the race team and ensuring they
get a return on their investment. He also works as an account representative
for Grand Bend Motorplex handling sponsor accounts. Racing has become
a full-time volunteer job and he can usually be found working on the
car or findings new ways to market the team. One of the things he finds
most enjoyable about the sport is the people. Drag Racers and fans are
a special kind of people and are very interesting and fun to be around.
Many friendship have been developed at the track and the people make
it worth going.
There is not much else that gets the blood flowing like racing except
hockey. As a true Canadian, hockey is his other passion. In the winter
months he plays as many as 3 times a week and if not for racing in the
summer would probably play summer hockey on weekends. A true Maple Leaf
fans Kevin hopes to be able to enjoy a Stanley Cup at least once in
his lifetime.
